Media Monkey: MediaMonkey is probably the best alternative for Winamp and it is the movie and music organizer for the serious collector. I'm so much used to Winamp that I'm having a hard time breaking myself off of it. But Winamp is so old school and I had some trouble with it. So I'm asking: Is there any good alternative music player? The features I'm looking for are: - fast performance with thousands of tracks in the library (search, sort etc.).
Since Winamp isn’t going to be whipping the lama’s ass for much longer, I thought I would spend some time looking around for a replacement. I’ve tried a few media players that I’ve seen thrown around here (Foobar2000, VLC, etc), but there’s a feature that’s missing that drives me crazy. In Winamp, in the main window, you can control everything from your keyboard, such as x to play, s to shuffle, spacebar to play/pause, shift-l to open a folder, etc. Where is that in other players? A lot of these other players are wonderful for sorting/tagging/setting up playlists for your library, but what about simple playback without using the mouse or going through menus?
Most players like Foobar can use shortcuts, but more complicated things like ctrl+shift+whatever. Is there an easy way to control this stuff from the keyboard in Foobar? Anyone have any suggestions on media players that allow keyboard control?
